Although evidences about the existing links between emotion regulation and close relationship quality, scholars have mainly focused on aggressive and violent relations and conflicting communication contexts. The present study tested the role of emotion dysregulation in influencing the quality of couple relationship, assessed in terms of intimacy, in a sample of adults, all involved in a stable heterosexual couple relationship. One hundred participants completed the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale and the Couple Affectivity Scale. Data were analyzed through descriptive analysis, correlations and hierarchical regression analyses. Findings showed that emotion dysregulation
had a negative impact on couple relationship quality. In particular, difficulties in emotion regulation negatively affected couple intimacy, specifically the perception that one’s partner was opened to intimate dialogue. Moreover, emotion dysregulation predicted fears of emotional involvement and fears of dependency and control; thus, individuals who were not able to manage their own emotions tended to avoid close contact and were afraid to be controlled by
their partner. Finally, gender was the unique predictor of self-disclosure and sexual satisfaction. The obtained results
underlined that emotion regulation of partners constitutes a significant protective factor for the quality of couple relationship, especially for intimacy processes.

Research on resilience showed its substantive role as buffer against mental differing but the difficulty to find a valid and reliable measurement instrument represents a limit for the improvement of the knowledge on this topic. In this study we examined the psychometric properties of the Italian version of the Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA). RSA is a 33 item instrument devoted to measure six factors of resilience. Construct and criterion validity have been investigated. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the adequacy of the measurement model to the data showing good fit indexes, all factors but one (Structured Style) showed good reliability indexes. The correlations with life satisfaction, social connectedness, hopelessness and a general index of psychological distress confirmed the criterion validity. Results confirm the construct and criterion validity of the scale. Relations between RSA factors and some indicators of psychosocial well-being and distress are discussed. Suggestions for further validity studies of RSA on the Italian context and on clinical and social relevance of this multidimensional construct are posed.

Followership is a pervasive but understudied phenomenon in organizations. The topic is relevant for nurses, as not only can followership behaviors be essential in achieving goals and improving organizational wellbeing in general, but also because leaders’ and followers’ working styles can influence each other. Having a brief scale for measuring followership behaviors could contribute to further research in nursing management. This study evaluates the principal psychometric properties of a brief followership scale based on Kelley’s model. A brief followership scale (8 items) was administered to 559 nurses in Northern Italy. Data analysis was performed using PASW 18 and Lisrel 8.72. The EFA results show a two factor solution (active engagement and independent critical thinking), confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. Both subscales show adequate reliability. This brief scale seems to be a useful tool for training and organizational research in the nursing profession.

To date, the physician-patient relationship has not been dealt with by means of shared theoretical and descriptive models or common measuring instruments. Hence, this study focuses on the psychometric properties of an Interdependence scale that aims to assess the physician-patient relationship. This survey is based on a model that investigates four main communication styles: Dependence, Counter-Dependence, Displaced Conflict and Interdependence. The group of subjects (N = 279) comprises Italian professional physicians that work in several hospitals across Sardinia. The group is evenly balanced in terms of gender and years of clinical practice. The factor analyses demonstrate that the questionnaire can investigate two dimensions of Interdependence: Factor 1, which is strictly related to the physician-patient relationship; and Factor 2, which refers to how health and wellbeing may be promoted in general terms. This research contributes to the better understanding of the nature of the physician-patient relationship.

The paper describes a case study that presents a situated approach for detecting, analysing, and developing managerial competence inside innovative and uncertain organizational contexts. To this aim, the paper seeks to underline the importance of local knowledge production and sharing (related to professional practices and organizational culture) for competency recognition and assessment. The research question addresses the need for a context dependent driven research in order to detect and enhance real innovate and situated competences. The
paper initially describes the new and innovative organizational scenario characterized by uncertainty, precariousness, rapid evolution, and progressive pressure required of organizational subjects in terms of adaptability, performativity, and orientation toward results. The second part of the paper presents the research method adopted for the inquiry and analysis of managerial situated competence to promote organizational learning and development. The third part focuses on the situated paths used to transfer and share the produced knowledge. The paper discusses the main results, describes the prospects for using the acquired knowledge within the considered experience, and highlighting the
strengths and limitations of the considered approach. The discussion focuses on the epistemological, methodological, and process implications related to the type of research adopted.
